Waterfront Decks & Access Steps

Getting from the yard to the water safely — across whatever slope, grade change or bank height sits between them.

“Getting down to the water is the worst part of the property.”

Waterfront access is a marine construction problem, not backyard carpentry. The ground between a house and its pier can be a gentle lawn, a steep wooded bank or a hard drop to a bulkhead — and whatever gets you across it has to suit that ground, live in the same weather as the pier, and be safe to walk with your arms full.

Built for the grade you actually have

Every waterfront has its own combination of slope, grade, bank height and water conditions. We design access around them: landings where the grade changes, step runs set to the slope, and platforms that meet the pier, dock or bulkhead they serve at the right height.

New access, or a better version of what’s there

We build new waterfront access and improve existing structures — a rebuilt run of steps, a larger landing, a deck extended to meet a new pier.

Designed with the pier

Access structures most naturally go with Piers & Docks. The walk from the house to the boat is one route, and it makes sense to design it as one — usually as part of the same project.
