Hastings Marine Construction

About

Who we are

A second-generation, family-owned marine contractor, established in Seaford in 1980 — and the values that decide how the work gets done.

Our mission

To be Delmarva’s leader in quality marine construction by serving our community with integrity, care and unmatched craftsmanship. As a family-driven company we are committed to delivering exceptional value through durable, innovative marine solutions that protect our waterways and shorelines. We place safety first, invest in our employees, and build every project with pride — creating a lasting legacy for our community today and for generations to come.

Second-generation leadership

Hastings Marine Construction is led by Luke Hastings, President & Chief Executive, who has been President since 2020. Founder Bart Hastings remains involved in the company. Debby Hastings handles office administration, and Ben Hastings supports project management as needed.

What the company does today

The company that began with docks and bulkheads in 1980 now works across three states and two markets: residential waterfront construction, and commercial, municipal and infrastructure work for marinas, developers, general contractors, towns and public agencies.

It is licensed in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia; insured with Marine General Liability, Protection & Indemnity, Hull and Workers’ Compensation coverage; bonded with project-specific bonding capacity; and trained to OSHA 30. It works from its own fleet of barges, pile-driving equipment, work vessels and heavy equipment, and evaluates existing structures with underwater cameras, ROV, side-scan sonar, sounding and depth equipment, laser measurement and drone imagery.

Core values

Six things that decide how we work.

Leadership Through Quality

We lead by example. Every structure we build reflects a commitment to superior materials, proven methods and meticulous craftsmanship — setting the standard for quality marine construction across Delmarva.

Community & Stewardship

Being Delmarva’s leader means giving back. We respect the communities and waterways we work in, and take responsibility for protecting the shoreline, the environment and the local way of life.

Family-Driven Integrity

Family values guide our decisions. We operate with honesty, accountability and long-term vision, building trust with clients, partners and employees alike.

Safety Is the Foundation

There is no quality without safety. We maintain uncompromising safety standards to protect our crews, our clients and our job sites — because leadership starts with responsibility.

People First

Our employees are the backbone of our success. We invest in their training, well-being and growth, fostering a culture of respect, care and pride in workmanship.

Innovation That Builds the Future

We honor proven construction practices while embracing innovation, continuously improving how the work gets designed, scheduled and built.
